Overview

GENERAL INFORMATION

About the course: Cambridge IGCSE is the world’s most popular international qualification for 14- to 16-year-olds, although it can be taken by students of other ages. It is tried, tested, and trusted.

Cambridge IGCSE Information and Communication Technology provides learners with the ability to use a broad range of ICT skills and encourages knowledge and understanding of the development of ICT systems, networks, and their safe use.

Program: Learners will analyze, design, implement, test, and evaluate ICT systems, making sure that they are fit for purpose. There is an emphasis on developing lifelong skills, which are essential across the curriculum and their future career.

Course Objective: This course provides learners with the ability to understand the rapid change of ICT in a technology-based world and the impact ICT has on the world.

Skills gained during the course:

An understanding of the basic components, use and application of different ICT systems and networks.
The skills to analyze, design, implement, test, and evaluate ICT systems.
The skills to understand the impact of current and new technologies on methods of working in the outside world.
The ability to recognize potential risks when using ICT, and use safe, secure, and responsible practice.

Duration of the course: 26 hours.

Course format: Online or offline. The course consists of lectures, presentations, and practical exercises.

Course language: Russian, Azerbaijani, or English.

Preliminary requirements for students:

B1 (Intermediate English). Since the main literature about the course is mainly available in English, as well as the certification exams for which the student can begin to prepare independently after completing this course, also in English, the student must understand the essence of the questions on a variety of topics.

Examples of texts for understanding and translation:

Smartwatches can be used in remote regions of the world. These can have an in-built GPS system to help the wearer to locate their position and therefore help with navigation.

Instructor

Igor Vologin

Igor Vologin is an experienced professional with 15 years of experience in the IT industry, of which 10 years have been involved in IT project management. Certified Project Management Professional (PMP), SAFe 6 Advanced Scrum Master (SASM) and Professional Scrum Master (PSM I) specialist who completed the academic course at the Higher School of Economics in the subject of “IT Project Management” and has extensive experience in project management not only in Azerbaijan, but also in Georgia, Tajikistan, Ukraine, and Montenegro.

Igor graduated from an academic photography course at Novosibirsk State University and has an extensive portfolio of work as a photographer and videographer covering various events.

He is also a practicing specialist in interpersonal relationships with rich experience in teaching.

Currently, Igor works as a Scrum Master at Libertex Group. In addition, he is a co-founder of Forest School Azerbaijan, an educator at STEP IT Academy and a mentor at the Azerbaijan Young Teachers Association (AGMA).

Igor doesn’t just share his theoretical knowledge; he provides a unique opportunity to gain practical work skills.
